What is a normal fasting blood glucose level?
Normal fasting blood glucose levels are below 100 mg/dL. People with pre-diabetes will have a fasting blood glucose level between 100-125. Diabetes occurs when a fasting blood glucose level is 126 mg/dl and above. Does Diabetes always follow Pre-diabetes? No. If you have pre-diabetes, you can make changes in your lifestyle that will lower your risk for developing type 2 diabetes. While you may not be able to totally eliminate your chances of developing type 2 diabetes, by making lifestyle changes you can delay its onset. Some common lifestyle changes are: • Eat fewer calories. • Exercise 30 minutes, 5 times a week. • Adopt a low-fat diet. • Loose 10 to 15 pounds.
