What is a NIC or Ethernet card?
A Network Interface Card (NIC) is a board installed in a computer system, usually a PC, to provide network communication capabilities to and from that computer system. Also called an adapter, an NIC is an expansion board you insert into a computer so the computer can be connected to a network. Most NICs are designed for a particular type of network, protocol and media, although some can serve multiple networks. NICs compatible with TDS’s DSL product should be 10 Megabit, Half-Duplex. An NIC may also be referred to as an Ethernet Card or Network Card. Hargray does not provide NICs.
