What is a NFPA course?
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is an organization which develops codes and standards in all areas of fire-rescue. While not mandated by law, many agencies choose to follow the NFPA’s standards in order to increase effectiveness and limit liability. Daribni’s NFPA Standards Water, Flood, and Rope Rescue Program has been designed to help the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and individuals comply with NFPA 1670 and NFPA 1006. Recently, Rescue 3’s curriculum was researched by Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute at Maryland University and was found to meet NFPA 1670 and 1006. The NFPA 1670 Standard covers a wide variety of disciplines, including Structural Collapse, Rope Rescue, Water Search and Rescue (SAR), Trench & Excavation SAR, etc. The standard also establishes general guidelines for the AHJ in assessing hazards, identifying levels of operational capabilities, and establishing training documentation and response guidelines.
