What is a neutralising antibody titre?

0

Titer is a fancy way of saying concentration. Used for things like antibodies and virus inoculate. You do serial dilutions of your sample, and then test it on your target. You use the lowest dilution (by lowest, i mean most dilute) that shows the reaction you want. Example: Antibody dilutions: 10^0 Reaction 10^-1 Reaction 10^-2 Reaction 10^-3 No Reaction 10^-4 No Reaction You would do this several times, and average the results. For this example, the titer would be 10^-2. If you knew your starting concentration, you could figure out exactly how many antibodies you have per ul.
