What is a neural progenitor cell?
Progenitor cells are cells which can divide and therefore create more cells, but under the proper conditions can be turned into different cell types. A neural progenitor cell is a cell that has two main properties; it must be proliferative (it can replicate itself and will continue to divide to create more neural progenitor cells) and it has the potential (when grown under the right conditions) to turn into many different cell types found in the nervous system (most adult cells of the nervous system do not replicate).
