What is a MULTIREAD drive?
MULTIREAD is a compatibility standard. Because CD-RW media reflects less laser light than CD-R or DVD-R media does, MULTIREAD drives must be able to adapt to different reflectivities in a standard way. MULTIREAD drives must also be able to interact with their host computer systems in a standard way. This standard ensures that CD MULTIREAD drives support CD Audio, CD-ROM, CD-R, and CD-RW media. The same can be said for DVD MULTIREAD drives. • Can I play my KODAK CD-RW discs in my CD player? Yes, you can. However, there are some CD players that are not compatible with CD-RW media because of its lower reflectivity. Check your player’s user guide for compatibility with CD-RW media. • Can I play CD-ROMs on my CD-RW drive? Yes.
