What is a Multi Region Blu-ray DVD Player?
The usual Blu-ray players are coded to play only the DVD discs assigned to release in authorized regions. Blu-ray has a unique coding system that divides the world into 3 regions namely A, B and C. Region A covers countries in America, Korea, Southeast Asia and Hong Kong. Region B covers Greenland, Europe, France, Middle East, New Zealand, Africa and Australia. And region C includes rest of the parts forming China, Russia and other Central Asian countries. These Blu-ray codes are further categorized based on the international region codes. Blu-ray players belonging to region A will not playback movies released in region B and C. This was hindering the competitiveness of these players; hence Blu-ray introduced certain modifications in its advanced models. Consequently, Multi region Blu-ray players are now available. DVDs belonging to all the 8 standard regions and regions A and B will work on these Multi Region Blu-ray players. And discs belonging to region C will work on any kind of Bl
