With the influx of breeders striving for larger Morgans for events such as dressage, park, and eventing, the NMPR was formed in 1996 to provide support and registry duties for Morgans, Part-Morgans and grade ponies of Morgan type. Like its progenitor breed, which ranged in size from 13 to 15 hands, the Morgan Pony is stout, hardy and good natured. Blessed with a loving temperament, Morgan Ponies are ideal mounts and companions for children and smaller adults. A 14 hand Morgan is fully capable of carrying an average sized adult; even for eventing or an endurance competition; while smaller Morgan Ponies make an ideal choice for hobby driving .
