Yes a Monarchy is a type of government. Quoting from Wikipedia: “A monarchy is a form of government in which an individual rules as head of state, often for life or until abdication, and “is wholly set apart from all other members of the state.” There are two forms of Monarchy: Absolute Monarchy: Where all power is vested in the monarch and their will is law (a good example being Saudi Arabia) AND Constitutional Monarchy: is where there is a King/Queen/Crown Prince etc who holds some power and is usually head of state but also answers to a congress or parliament. In these nations the Monarch’s power is limited by a constitution or laws that have been enacted over time. (examples of Constitutional/Limited Monarchies are Spain, Denmark, The United Kingdom, Norway, Sweden, Japan) Right now there are 44 Monarchies around the world, of these Queen Elizabeth is the Queen of 16 of them.
