A mental disability is impairment in intellectual and adaptive behavior and is reflected in a reduced rate of learning. Children with mental disabilities show deficits in intellectual, academic, and adaptive behavior skills. Often times they appear less mature than their peers.

A mental disability either refers to a person who has a mental illness, such as PTSD, OCD, depression, etc. Physical disabilities are things like dwarfism, cerebral palsy, and things along that line.
