What is a memory parity error?
When a system using parity memory has a single bit error in the data from memory, the system will detect the error and then halt the system by displaying the appropriate messages. In an ECC system, the system automatically corrects the error. In a system that uses ECC memory, there are only two instances when a parity error occurs. One instance is when two bits of data are switched at the same time, and another is when a single bit changes repeatedly.
