What is a medical withdrawal?
The student should go to the Dean of Students Office in Peabody Hall after withdrawing through the Registrar’s Office to determine the required documentation for a medical withydrawal. If the withdrawal is approved, the student’s transcript will display W grades for the term and course fees may be refunded.
If you are given an approved medical leave of absence, your refund will be calculated based on the federal or institutional policy. The withdrawal date is determined by the director of the Health Center. Tuition charges and aid will be adjusted or remain the same based on what the institutional or federal refund calculations determine. The difference is that for a medical withdrawal, the student will not be liable for any balance owing, or receive a refund for any credit on the account. The student will receive a grant in the form of “Medical Remission” equal to any payments made on their account with cash or loans on the semester they withdrew for the first semester they return at least 1/2 time if they return within one year. This policy keeps the student from losing any payments made to the university for the semester they had to withdraw from for medical reasons.
