What is a medical trial?
A medical trial comes under a few names clinical trials, drug trials, clinical research, medical research but all fundamentally mean the same thing. Medical researchers conduct medical trials for many different reasons. A clinical trial could be used to test a new drug or vaccine or to try a previously tested drug on larger samples of the population. Medical trials are vital for the development of treatments for diseases and illnesses. Without clinical trials, it would be hard for researchers to gain a better understanding of the many diseases that exist in the world today. If you think of all the pills, creams ointments etc that are available in your local chemist, they have probably all been tested in a medical trial at some stage.
