What is a Medical Necessity Review Organization?
A. Any entity that makes a decision to deny a health care service based on lack of medical necessity, if the service is otherwise offered and payable under his policy, must be licensed as a Medical Necessity Review Organization (MNRO) to make this determination. A health plan can either apply to become its own MNRO or delegate this function by contracting with a licensed MNRO.
