Medical coding specialists interpret and review medical documentations from various health care practitioners and providers to attain comprehensive data concerning a patient’s diagnosis, symptoms, injuries, procedures, treatment and other relevant information. They assign and catalog a numerical code to the data so health care providers get reimbursed for the services they rendered. All medical coders are required to use the Current Procedural Terminology numeric system, set forth by the American Medical Association.
