What is a mechanical license and/or royalties?
A publisher or its administrator grants someone or a record company the right to record and release the publisher song(s) on cd, cassette tape and vinyl by issuing a mechanical license. Mechanical royalties is the ” fee” paid by that person or record company to the publisher. The earnings are from the sales of cd, cassette tape and vinyl using the song(s) that was licensed based on the negotiated per unit fee specified on the mechanical license.
