What is a Master Promissory Note (MPN) and where do I need to mail it?
A Master Promissory Note (MPN) is an on-line promissory note that must be completed before Federal Student Stafford, Federal Student Perkins, Federal Graduate PLUS, and Parent PLUS Loans will disburse to NIU. Students and/or parents will be sent notification of the need to complete an MPN. Typically, a MPN is valid for 10 years, so in most circumstances, it is only necessary to complete it once for a student’s academic career.
