What is a “Master Planning Document” under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment?

0

The City is required to follow the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act when completing projects that may have an impact on the environment. A ‘Master Planning’ project is a long-range plan that integrates infrastructure requirements for existing and future land use (such as stormwater management facilities) with environmental assessment planning principles. The Master Plan examines a group of related projects and outlines a framework for planning for subsequent projects. The Subwatershed Study will complete Phase 1 (defining the problem or opportunity being addressed) and Phase 2 (development and evaluation of alternative solutions) of the Class Environmental Assessment process. Certain specific projects that are identified in the subwatershed study will follow the full Class Environmental Assessment process prior to implementation. The Subwatershed Plan will be made available for public comment prior to being approved by the municipality.
