What is a Marital Settlement Agreement or MSA?
An MSA is a legally binding agreement wherein all the issues regarding the parties’ marriage are taken care of. This document outlines the child support, spousal support, child custody and visitation, and property division. It is a complex document required by the court to address these issues as well as legal issues such as the right to a trial, the right have a default entered; the right to waive certain rights like the right to obtain appraisals or more discovery. I pride myself on drafting clear and concise MSAs that not only meet the legal requirements of the Court, but that are easy for the average person to read and understand.
