What is a map sensor on 1994 jeep cherokee for?
The MAP sensor reads the amount of vacuum in the engine intake (PSI or air density), sends that info to the Jeep’s computer which uses that information combined with input from other sensors to regulate the engine (fuel flow, timing, etc.) You can find it on the firewall at the back of the engine, it’s a small black plastic retangle and usually has a green plug with three wires attached to the bottom side. There’s a fairly common Cherokee mod to make an adjustable MAP sensor to “correct” a lean or rich running engine. The link below gives some good info on that.
