What is a Mangosteen fruit?
The mangosteen fruit is native to the Southeast Asian countries (i.e. Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Indonesia). Nicknamed “The Queen of Fruits” by many, the mangosteen has been revered for centuries in folk medicine for its ability to help with infections, fatigue, skin conditions and many other different diseases. The scientific name for the mangosteen is Garcinia mangostana L. The mangosteen is not related to the mango. Mangosteen fruit has a thick peel or hull. Inside the hull is a soft, white, and segmented fruit. The flavor of the fruit is uniquely sweet and appealing.
