What is a Magistrate Inquiry?
A special Inquiry looking at the reason being put forward for your detention or release. The law says that all mentally ill persons, if they are to be kept in hospital against their will as Involuntary patients, must be taken to see a Magistrate soon after being admitted The Magistrate will hold an inquiry into your case and decide what is to happen to you. The Magistrate can decide to keep you in hospital for up to three months, or discharge you.
