What is a “lurker”?
A Lurker is a member of an alien species from another dimension. Their agents roam the message boards and chatrooms of the net, peering and recording the conversations and utterances of other beings while staying hidden themselves. Darva is a Lurker. He was driven out of the sewer he inhabited by a horde of tribbles and an undead Klingon in heated battle.
A lurker is someone who reads but, for the most part, doesn’t post to an online group. There are hundreds or thousands of lurkers in any given newsgroup. • What is ‘Netiquette’?
