What is a low-cost way for businesses to improve their Internet security?
Two low-cost improvements would be to double check their anti-virus programs to make sure they are still in effect and, if necessary, renew their subscriptions. I see many systems with anti-virus programs that expired months or even years ago. The second would be to make sure their data is backed up. This could be as cheap as buying a USB drive and connecting it to each system that needs backing up or setting it up on the network. Strict Internet usage policies are (also) a very effective, no-cost way to minimize incidents. Brent Lang may be reached at blang@ledger.com.
