What is a “low cost” airline?
In our database a “low cost” airline is NOT necessarily the cheapest for your chosen route. Normal scheduled airlines often have fares or promotions that match or beat airlines in our database. However for our purposes a “low cost” airline has most of the following criteria – • Bookings are made over the Internet. • No penalty is made for booking a one-way journey instead of a return. Normal “scheduled” or “national” airlines (what we call “Full Service Flights”) almost always make it uneconomical to buy a one-way ticket. • You can book any flight the airline has a route for from anywhere in the world. In other words the first question the airline web site asks is NOT “where are you resident”? Try booking a flight on the British Airways web site from Amsterdam to London when you are currently living in Belgium, only speak English and are paying with an American credit card! • Generally speaking (but not always) ticket prices are less than the normal “Full Service” airlines. • The airli
