What is a Look-up, and how is the Search Count calculated?”
Bear with us for a little history. The original intent was based on the idea that a PublicData subscriber should be charged for one Look-up when the searched record results were displayed. Customers were debited a single Look-up each time a detail screen was displayed. Unfortunately, several users took undue advantage of the search results lists, and gleaned valuable information at the expense of PublicData and its other more reputable subscribers. Therefore, the only equitable solution became counting the number of Look-up searches and Look-up details and taking the sum of the two counts as the Search Count for the day. Realize that each time new criteria is used to search as well as each time Click here for more is clicked, these count as a Look-up. Basically, any click that results in a search result list or a detail screen will be counted as a Look-up.
