What is a local toll call?
A call made outside your local calling area but still within your own Local Access Transport Area (LATA), they may also be called an intraLATA call. These calls are not far enough away to be considered long distance but typically cost money when placed with a traditional phone provider. Local Toll calls are included for free in your WOW! Phone package as part of the unlimited local and local toll calling.
A local toll call, also known as “intralata toll call” or “local long distance,” is a call that is too close to the originating location to be considered long distance but too far from the originating location to be considered local. Often times with local toll calls, a caller is required to dial “1” plus the area code for the call despite the fact that the call is within the same area code.
