What Is A Littoral Forest?

0

The littoral forests are coastal forests but they are not the same as mangroves. The littoral forests are separate and unique ecosystems that offer habitation to some birds. The littoral forests are found on high but sandy grounds with thick vegetation along the mainland coast. There are two types of littoral forests, the coastal littoral forests and the Caye littoral forests. The coastal littoral forests grow high above the sea level and the type of vegetation depends on the type of soil and location. Some species that live in this type of forest are white tail deer and peccaries. They are also home to several shrubs. Littoral forests are very fragile systems and they are home to some endangered species of animals, birds and plants who cannot survive elsewhere.
