What is a Letter of Intent (LOI)?
A LOI is a brief description of a proposed research activity that researchers submit through their membership association to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). For the 2009 funding cycle, LOIs will be used to plan the peer review process. The LOIs will not be evaluated for scientific or technical merit. Who may apply? All investigators who are members of one or more of the following associations: Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH) and the Association for Prevention Teaching and Research (APTR) are eligible to apply and to compete in this process. Investigators should submit LOIs in response to the Potential Extramural Projects. LOIs may also be submitted for non-research Investigator Initiated projects. What should a LOI include? Each LOI requires the LOI form (Word). The LOI should be no more than 3 pages including the LOI form. LOI should be prepared using single spaced Times New Roman 12-point unreduced
