What is a lethal dose of hydrocodone?
There is no established “lethal” dose. A lethal dose is dependent on a patients tolerance. It is not uncommon to see patients with chronic severe pain require daily single doses of 80-120mg. 40mg is considered “toxic”, not lethal. Toxicity comes from the other drugs normally incorporated with the hydrocodone (acetaminophen etc..), not the hydrocodone itself. The only long term medical impairment associated with chronic opiate based analgesic use is a drop in IQ of about 10%. It is highly (no pun intended) unlikely that 40mg would be lethal to a first time (non-tolerant) user. If you are desiring a lethal dose you should expect to have to consume tens of multiples of what you are accustomed to using. First time user lethal dose may indeed have to be greater than 500mg. Do your homework on this drug, or consult your physician.
