Lavalier mic’s are small inconspicuous mic’s that pin to a suit lapel or tie like the ones newscasters wear. They are handy when capturing wedding vows. When they are wireless, it is best that they are on a UHF (Ultra High ) frequencies. VHF (Very High)frequencies are acceptable but are more susceptible to interference. Boom Mics or shotgun mics are very directional mics, meaning that they only pick up what sound they are pointed at. PZM mics (Pressure zone mics) pick up areas of sound much like a telephone speaker mic. I hope that this page has helped you decipher some of our terminology. Even if you decide to go with another videographer, it is my hope that you can ask the proper questions. If you have any other questions, technical or other, I would love to hear from you. Good Luck with your wedding planning!
