A: Out of state officers are encouraged to apply and will go through the same process utilized for a Cadet Officer position. Once the out of state officer successfully completes the first phase of the selection process, they are given a conditional job offer. The conditions being they must pass a background investigation, polygraph, psychological exam, medical exam and drug test — the components of the second phase of testing and be approved for hire by management. The Department will then hire and sponsor the out of state officer to take the waiver certification examination administered by AZ POST. The applicant will be hired and paid as a cadet officer while in the waiver certification examination process.
