What is a Kamaaina card, and where do I get one?
Kamaaina is Hawaiian for “local.” Since Hawaii has such a tourist based economy, often local residence receive a better price. This is especially true for tourist attractions. Military personnel assigned to Hawaii, are eligible to get the local rate but they need a Kamaiina card to do so. The card can be picked up at the base security office next to the main gate. The discounts are usually not advertised, but are often available. For example, Round Table Pizza at the Hilton gives a 20% discount to Kamaiina residence and free entry into Hanauma Bay.
