What is a kahuna?
A Kahuna is the Hawaiian word for an expert. Its literal translation is keeper of the secret referring to someone who holds a talent or skill in a particular field that others do not. It is someone accomplished in his or her particular field such as canoe building, temple building, dancing or singing, healing etc. and their expertise helped the family and the community. The task of the Ka huna would be to teach and pass on their talents and skills (secrets) to the family or ohana. Therefore a Kahuna of Lomi Lomi is someone who is an expert at Hawaiian Lomi Lomi.
