What is a kaftan – caftan?
A caftan – kaftan is a full-length garment with elbow-length or long sleeves, worn chiefly in eastern Mediterranean countries. There is the moroccan caftan, the egyptian caftan as well as the indian caftan. A westernized version of a caftan consist of a loose, usually brightly colored waist-length or ankle length tunic. The caftan is ideal for any occasion whether you are going for dinner in an elegant evening caftan dress, taking a walk in a casual dress caftan, belly dancing or relaxing at home. A caftan is great for the summer and for the winter. Being a California girl I like to casually slip my beach caftan over my swimwear as I take a nice stroll from the beach to the beach bar/club.
