What is a JCAHO-certified stroke center?
The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) has certified several dozen hospitals across the country as Primary Stroke Centers, or centers of excellence for the treatment of stroke. Accordingly, Morton Plant Mease hospitals can offer its patients access to specially trained medical staff with innovative equipment and proven new procedures—all designed to offer better overall patient care. To receive the Gold Seal for Primary Stroke Care, the hospitals underwent a rigorous evaluation process that included hospital site visits.
