What is a Intel Pentium 4 Processor?
The Pentium 4 was a line of CPUs manufactured by Intel from 2000 to 2008. They are architecturally inferior to Pentium IIIs and Core / Core 2 processors, but are able to scale to massive clock ratings. There are very few instances in which it would be prudent to purchase a Pentium 4 system these days. The earliest ones were outperformed by the Pentium III, ones manufactured from 2004 on had massive heat output and required very noisy fans, and a barebones Pentium Dual-Core system can be had these days for about $250, and will easily outperform the fastest Pentium 4.
