What is a hypernova and whats its differences between a supernova?
Until the 1990s, “hypernova” was used very specifically to refer to a stellar explosion with the energy of over 100 supernovae. But since then, the term has been redefined – it is the supernovae of the most massive stars (called hypergiants) which have masses from 100 to 150 times that of the sun. The main difference is energy – hypernova have a lot more energy than supernova simply because they are much more massive stars.
