What is a house of prayer?

0

A house of prayer is a group of Christian believers in a city/geographic region who as a group (not necessarily as individuals) spend a great amount of time worshipping God, thanking Him, enjoying His presence and praying to Him in partnership for the many things on His heart. The house of prayer movement is unusual in that its extravagance is expressed in the passion of prayer, the humility of the prayers, the continuous nature of prayer and worship, and the focus on the Word that undergirds the worship and prayer.

A “House of Prayer” is a home where Christians gather to pray for the people in their neighborhood. To begin a House of Prayer, you need someone with the zeal to reach his neighbors with the Gospel and a home in which to meet. You also need three to ten other Christians who share the same burden to pray for the neighborhood. These other Christians can be family members or friends in the area. All the members must be devoted to consistent and persistent prayer. The number of people in each House of Prayer must not exceed ten. If more people want to join your group, involve them in beginning a new House of Prayer. The objective is not to have a large prayer group, but rather to saturate the neighborhood with prayer through many groups planted in each neighborhood. Since this strategy is aimed at reaching the whole world with the Gospel, the leader of the prayer group should aim at initiating many Houses of Prayer in the immediate neighborhood and beyond.
