What is a “holdover” nomination?

0

During the deliberation process, Union Award and Medal Committees may recommend that a nominee who was not selected is held over for reconsideration during the following year. This may occur when the more than one candidate is considered a strong contender by the majority of the Award/Medal Committee. Nominations can be held over for no more than 2 years after the original date of submission. Nominators are encouraged to update documentation in held-over packages (i.e., nomination letter, curriculum vitae, bibliography, and supporting letters).
