Market research often begins with an export statistical analysis. This indicates the volume and value of exports from the U.S. to international markets. Before a statistical analysis can be performed, an exporter must identify the correct “Harmonized System” or “HS” code for his/her product(s). The HS is an international commodity coding system that most countries use to classify their products, thus the term “harmonized” is used.
