WHAT IS A HALLOWEEN FOOD DRIVE???
The event is really simple: Kids collect non-perishable food items while they trick-or-treat. The kids still get their candy and the food bank gets a large shipment of food during what is typically their slow time for donations. Teens and young adults are still welcome to go out and collect food items, but you probably won’t get very much candy! WHY NOW? Most food banks get lots of food donated around Christmas time, but their supplies start running low before then because the school year (starting in September) is a time of high demand. October 31 is a convenient half-way point between September and January during which we can rally the communities together to help fill the gap. DROP OFF TIME AND LOCATION : Drop off the food between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Halloween night.
