What is a “hafla” and where do they take place?

Hafla is basically a party in which a dancer is the host and invites other dancers to perform. It is a means of celebration and performing for each other. Usually at the end, the dance floor is open to everybody. Most haflas are held at local halls, such as VFW, etc. I would love for all of my classes to do one routine at my next hafla which will be held in early October, Vernon, location TBA. If you choose not to perform in the hafla, it really is a lot of fun just to come and watch.
