What is a hackney carriage vehicle?
A Liverpool taxicab vehicle licence allows the holder (or “proprietor”) to use a purpose built London style vehicle to ply or stand for hire (pick up on the street or at taxi ranks) within the city of Liverpool. Liverpool City Council limits the number of taxicab vehicle licences to 1,417. No further licences are currently being issued, as this number already meets or exceeds demand.
