What is a group mailbox?
A group mailbox allows several subscribers independent mailboxes while sharing the same telephone number. Each user has an individual password (telephone and Web) that accesses only his or her messages. Callers will hear a menu that states “press 1 for John Smith, press 2 for Mary Doe” for up to 9 users sharing the same phone number. After the caller enters the appropriate number for the intended recipient, group mailboxes function identically to other mailboxes. If a caller does not have a touch tone phone, he or she has the option of leaving a message for all of the other mailboxes in the group. This allows message delivery regardless of the incoming caller’s telephone equipment.
