what is a green card and what is it purpose for its holder and the hosting country?
i would like any additional info that is useful thanx “Green Card” is the nickname for a U.S. Government identity card which identifies the holder as a legal alien resident. They are typically issued to non-US spouses and dependents on U.S. citizens, to foreign workers sponsored by U.S. business entities, and individuals who are granted asylum (contingent upon he results of background checks.). Holders of a valid green card are free to seek employment within the U.S., and to leave and re-enter the country without advance notice to the government. Establishing oneself as a legal alien ‘permanent resident’, and remaining one in good standing eventually leads to the holder’s right to apply for naturalization (U.S. citizenship.)
