• A Graphical User Interface (GUI) is a design method that allows the user to view and interact with information via different graphical elements, such as windows, buttons, screens, wizards, etc. Generally, graphical interfaces require the use of a mouse to navigate through the different elements. Currently, Graphical User Interfaces are omnipresent and users rarely encounter a situation where they cannot use one. Both the Microsoft Windows operating system and Mac OS X present information via graphical user interfaces. An example of a non graphical user interface is the command-line interface (CLI) which is found in Windows by using a command prompt, where the user primarily interacts by typing commands with the keyboard. In addtion, shells under Mac OS X or Linux operating systems are considered non-GUI or CLI interfaces.
