I am a video editor for a few years now. The last two of them I’m using Sony Vegas PRO 8 and I recently upgraded it to SV PRO 9. I would definately recommend Sony Vegas. It is considered the best program for amateurs. For more proffessional videos you can try Premiere PRO. But in my opinion Sony Vegas does the work just fine. It has a lot of effects, transitions to choose from. Also you can use the masking tool and have multiple video and audio tracks. Hope I helped!
