What is a good video card for a desktop?

All video cards are good for desktops. If they weren’t, they wouldn’t have ever been produced.

Well, I’d personally recommend the EVGA 9800 GTX+ it sells for about $140 on www.newegg.com and is an excellent card (I actually purchased one myself for my new computer). Just make sure you have the room for it in your case because it’s pretty big. Most cards you’ll find at a general computer store (i.e. Bestbuy) will be older cards with hugely inflated prices – I recommend purchasing from newegg even if you don’t decide on the 9800, you’ll get reliable service and great prices.

A good video card can only be rated good by the user and not someone else. It’s like saying a salesman that keeps telling you that its good but the customer that bought it says it wasn’t. You get it? So I prefer searching on Newegg.com at http://www.newegg.com . They give you customized search results with options searching by price, specs, etc.
