What is a good university in Texas to become a Dermatologist?
You won’t become a dermatologist with a Bachelor’s degree. But you WILL have to earn a BS or BA, take all the math/science/English pre-requisites and earn at least a 3.5 GPA. Then you’ll need to score very well on the MCAT’s, have great recommendations and, ideally, experience in the field. Then you may be one of the small percentage of applicants are accepted to med school each year. Med school is four years. No financial aid, so you’ll incur lots of debt [$200K isn’t unusual], you’ll bust your behind in a very competitive atmosphere. Last year of med school you’ll apply for the match program for an internship or residency in medicine and then dermatology and you may need to do a fellowship, also. Along the way, you take the National Boards and the certification boards for your specialty. By about age 30, more or less, you’ll be ready to go into practice.
